Volunteer: Summer Bash Prep - Event Prep Day

Do you want to help those we serve at WISEPlace enjoy a fun-filled summer day? Then join us the day before our Summer Bash BBQ event to help us make sure we're prepared for the special event! This opportunity will involve:

Transporting folding tables from our storage facility to our event venue (less than 1 mile drive)Moving all decorations, drinks, snacks, and treasure table goodies downstairs to our storage roomMoving our Summer Bash goodie bags downstairs to our storage space in an organized mannerPutting some of the drinks in the fridge downstairs at our event venue to be cooled for the next dayMaking sure we have everything on our pre-event checklistYou must be able to lift 15-20 lbs and have a vehicle to help with transportation of the tables!

Greet meal providers when they arriveHelp the meal providers get set up for the dinnerGet the name and email/phone number of each of the volunteers that are there to help with the dinnerTake attendance of which residents attend the monthly dinnersTake some AMAZING photos of our meal provider volunteers and the residents enjoying the delicious food!Help the meal providers clean up after dinner

You can become our Volunteer Team Leader for our twice-monthly Farmer's Markets on the 2nd and 4th Mondays each month! This opportunity is 14 hours per month, and involves:

Greeting the produce driver that's delivering produce on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of the monthPicking up fresh produce from Tanaka Farms in Irvine at 9am as neededGreeting and leading other volunteers for the Farmer's MarketDropping off and setting up the produce in the Community RoomTracking resident attendance and help them "shop" the produceCleaning up after the Farmer's Markets - wipe down tables, clean and put away any utensilsGather all excess produce after the Farmer's Market and put it in the fridge downstairs
MUST BE ABLE TO BE ABLE TO LIFT AND CARRY UP TO 25 LBS

Volunteer: Volunteer Team Leader - Shelter Restocking (Thursdays)

Do you have an eye for organization and want to help those we serve at WISEPlace?

You can become a Volunteer Team Leader to restock one of our shelters on Thursdays! Our Restocking VTL is vital for maintaining the cleanliness, organization, and safety in our shelter space. This role is at a CONFIDENTIAL address, so there may be additional screening steps that need to be completed. This role involves:

Inventorying items in our shelter storageKeeping track of how many items come in and go out of the storage spaceRestocking essentials that are running low in the shelter (ex. toilet paper, utensils)Throwing out any old food from the communal fridge/freezerTaking out the trash to the proper bins (organics, trash, recycling) and pulling the bins to the curb for trash dayDisinfecting the counters, fridge interior and exterior, and the dining room tableInforming the shelter director when anything is running low in the storage area
